Welcome to Brisbane, situated southeast of Queensland. Here is where you can have holidays painted in variant colors. From art galleries, wildlife parks, museums, markets, sports and adventures to delighting beaches, clear water rivers, parklands, forests patches and mountains.
How can a film produce an Oscar winning Best Actress performance and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination and still be a terrible movie? Easy, just fail to deliver an important message involving understanding and knowledge when you have millions of moviegoers who are glued to your presentation. Boys Don't Cry only reinforces all of the stereotypes, prejudices, bigotry, stupidity and transphobia already present in our society and culture.
By all means, bring your youngsters on an Alaska cruise. From tykes and toddlers to "tweens" and teens there are great times and adventures awaiting kids on the "Last Frontier" - times like special games and socials aboard ship, or spotting whales in the water and brown (grizzly) bears on nearby beaches. During port visits the whole family can enjoy tours that vary from hikes and gold panning to mushing a team of huskies on a dog sled ride across a mountiantop icefield.
While the US federal government has refused to sign onto the international Kyoto Protocol and has steadfastly refused to recognize the issue of global warming, a growing chorus of economists, environmentalists and scientists are beginning to sound ever-increasingly dire alarm bells. In response, many cities have taken the initiative to address environmental concerns in their jurisdictions without federal support.
Have you ever seen Mars, Venus or Mercury? Sure, through a telescope, but have you seen them with your naked eye? At the Kielder Observatory, you can see all those and more. They dangle in space, inline next to the forest track that leads to the observatory. These planets rotate and rock to the whisper of the wind. You would probably find yourself very surprised to run across these celestial beings spinning in the fingers of the wind should you be on any other mountain trail, but this trail leads to Kielder.
The Bastle houses of the English Scottish Border were fortified farmhouses built as a defence against the attacks of the Border robbers known as Reivers, from the old English word to rob. With walls up to three feet thick and entries that seriously prevented access to any outsider, they provided some security against the nightly attacks of the Reivers. There are many still to be seen throughout the Border lands of England, both in Northumberland and Cumbria, some still lived in, others forlorn ruins. They bear testimony to a violent age. |
